Teacher Appreciation Week

WHEREAS, the strength of our community is built upon the curiosity, character, and competence of its citizens; and

WHEREAS, teachers are the silent engineers of this foundation, working tirelessly to ignite the spark of inquiry and cultivate the gardens of the mind; and

WHEREAS, the influence of a great educator extends far beyond the four walls of a classroom, echoing through decades in the choices, successes, and kindness of their students; and

WHEREAS, teachers serve not only as instructors of curriculum but as mentors, listeners, advocates, and steady anchors in an ever-changing world; and

WHEREAS, we recognize that behind every lesson plan is a person who has dedicated their heart to the belief that every child possesses an untapped reservoir of potential; and

WHEREAS, we celebrate the patience that endures the difficult days, the creativity that turns a mundane fact into a lifelong passion, and the unwavering commitment to the idea that knowledge is the greatest gift one can give or receive; and

WHEREAS, during this week we call upon all citizens to pause and reflect on the educators who changed the trajectory of their own lives. Let us honor these professionals not just with words, but with the respect, resources, and gratitude they have rightfully earned; and

WHEREAS, our community acknowledges the impact of educators on our lives and thanks Nevada teachers for their continued support; and

WHEREAS, Nevada extends its deepest gratitude to the more than 30,000 dedicated pre-K-12 educators who teach so that we may learn; 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim May 3-9, 2026, as 

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK IN NEVADA
