Day of Prayer in Nevada
WHEREAS, the 75th observance of the National Day of Prayer has the theme "GLORIFY GOD AMONG THE NATIONS, SEEKING HIM IN ALL GENERATIONS"
1 Chronicles 16:24; and
WHEREAS, the National Day of Prayer has been part of our heritage since it was declared by the First Continental Congress in 1775 and the United States Congress in 1952 approved a Joint Resolution setting aside a day each year to pray in our nation; and
WHEREAS, the United States Congress, by Public Law 100-307, 1988, as amended, affirms that it is essential for us as a nation to pray and directs the President of the United States to set aside and proclaim the first Thursday of May annually as a National Day of Prayer; and
WHEREAS, the Constitution of the State of Nevada guarantees that the free exercise and enjoyment of religious profession and worship, without discrimination or preference, shall be forever allowed in the Silver State, and Nevadans will continue to find strength, comfort, guidance and inspiration through prayer across every city and culture from our northern mountains to our southern deserts and the vastness in between, including our rural counties and tribal lands; and
WHEREAS, we specifically thank God for those who defend our freedoms and ask for peace throughout our state, nation, and world;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim May 7, 2026, as a
DAY OF PRAYER IN NEVADA
