CCSD 70th Anniversary

WHEREAS, the Clark County School District (CCSD) was formed by the Nevada Legislature in September 1956, unifying 18 individual school districts into one cohesive countywide system; and

WHEREAS, CCSD has experienced extraordinary growth over the decades, expanding from an initial enrollment of 20,240 students to serving more than 270,000 students this school year; and

WHEREAS, over the past 70 years, 13 Superintendents have led the District through dynamic changes, historic growth, and relentless dedication to educational progress; and

WHEREAS, dozens of dedicated Board of Trustees members have volunteered countless hours to develop and implement policies that support students and staff while shaping CCSD into the nation's fifth-largest school district; and

WHEREAS, CCSD's inaugural graduating class was celebrated in the spring of 1957, beginning a legacy that has seen graduates go on to become key leaders, innovators, and contributors to the State of Nevada; and

WHEREAS, CCSD’s educators, administrators, support staff, families, and community partners of Clark County work tirelessly every day to empower every student to reach their full potential; and  

WHEREAS, CCSD is actively transforming into the destination district, unwavering in its focus on academic excellence, career connected learning and durable skills, and safe and supportive schools; and  

WHEREAS, for 70 years, the Clark County School District has been a cornerstone of education and opportunity in Southern Nevada, leaving a lasting legacy through the accomplishments of its students, educators, staff, families, and community partners, while continuing to build a brighter future for generations to come;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim September 26, 2026, as 

CCSD 70TH ANNIVERSARY
