Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

Official proclamation from the State of Nevada Executive Department issued by the Governor.

WHEREAS, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is observed each May, a designation that originated as a week in 1978 and was expanded to a month in 1992, to recognize and celebrate the history, cultures, and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to the United States; and

WHEREAS, Nevada is home to a dynamic and rapidly growing Asian American and Pacific Islander population, representing a significant and increasing share of our residents, whose contributions strengthen the Silver State's economy, workforce, and communities across all regions; and

WHEREAS, Asian American and Pacific Islander individuals serve our communities in many roles, including as business owners, educators, healthcare professionals, public servants, and community leaders, and the State of Nevada remains committed to supporting opportunities that empower and uplift these communities; and

WHEREAS, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month provides an opportunity to recognize the achievements and resilience of these communities while promoting understanding, unity, and mutual respect; and

WHEREAS, Nevada's strength is reflected in the many backgrounds and experiences of its people, and recognizing the contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities affirms our shared commitment to a strong and unified state; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the month of May 2026 as 

ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH IN NEVADA
