As A Day in Honor of Yolanda Munoz
WHEREAS, Yolanda Munoz has honorably served the State of Nevada for more than 26 years, dedicating her career to public service and improving the lives of Nevada's citizens through her professionalism, compassion, and unwavering commitment to excellence; and
WHEREAS, Yolanda began her state service in May 2000 with the Nevada Gaming Control Board, serving as an assistant to Hearing Officers and establishing a strong foundation in public service; and
WHEREAS, in August 2002, Yolanda joined the Nevada State Welfare Division as a Family Services Specialist, where she helped individuals and families access critical public assistance programs while ensuring fair and accurate eligibility determinations with dignity, respect, and professionalism; and
WHEREAS, through her promotions to Family Services Specialist III in July 2005 and Family Services Supervisor in February 2007, Yolanda demonstrated exceptional leadership, providing training, mentorship, and guidance to staff while strengthening the delivery of essential services to Nevada's most vulnerable populations; and
WHEREAS, in September 2012, Yolanda became a Social Services Program Specialist within the Eligibility and Payments Unit, conducting management evaluations of SNAP, TANF, and Medicaid programs, promoting accountability and program excellence, and successfully leading the consolidation and supervision of the Quality Assurance team; and
WHEREAS, in February 2018, Yolanda joined the Nevada Division of Parole and Probation as a Parole and Probation Specialist III, where she diligently carried out responsibilities critical to supporting Nevada's criminal justice system; and
WHEREAS, in May 2019, Yolanda returned to the Nevada State Welfare Division as a Social Services Program Chief I within the Program Review and Evaluation Unit, leading the Administrative Adjudication Team, ensuring Fair Hearings were conducted ethically and impartially, and strengthening partnerships among federal, field, and administrative stakeholders while supporting Quality Control operations; and
WHEREAS, throughout her distinguished career, Yolanda has exemplified the qualities of an advocate, teacher, mentor, leader, and lifelong learner, leaving a lasting impact on colleagues, programs, and communities throughout Nevada through her dedication, integrity, and commitment to public service; and
WHEREAS, Yolanda Munoz has faithfully served the State of Nevada under the administrations of Governors Kenny Guinn, Jim Gibbons, Brian Sandoval, Steve Sisolak, and Joe Lombardo, and is recognized with gratitude and admiration for her exceptional contributions to the State of Nevada. Her service has embodied the highest ideals of public service, and she will be deeply missed by all who have had the privilege to work alongside her;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim July 3, 2026, as a day in honor of
