America’s Semiquincentennial Celebration in Nevada

WHEREAS, the year 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America, commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and honoring the enduring principles of liberty, equality, and self government that continue to guide our nation; and

WHEREAS, the America 250 commemoration invites all Americans to reflect on our shared story, celebrate the achievements of generations past, and engage in thoughtful dialogue about the future we are building together; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada—shaped by the dedication, resilience, and spirit of its residents—proudly joins the nation in recognizing this historic milestone; and

WHEREAS, Nevada’s rich and diverse heritage, from its frontier beginnings to its mining legacy, military history, and spirit of innovation, reflects the broader American journey of perseverance, opportunity, and community; and

WHEREAS, the strength of Nevada rests in its people, whose civic engagement, volunteerism, and commitment to one another enrich our communities and uphold the democratic values we celebrate during America 250; and

WHEREAS, civic organizations, volunteers, schools, museums, tribal nations, veterans’ groups, local governments, and community partners across Nevada are encouraged to participate in America 250 Nevada programs, events, and educational activities that honor our past and inspire all Nevadans to shape a vibrant future; and

WHEREAS, this commemoration serves as a reminder of the responsibilities of citizenship and the importance of active participation in preserving and strengthening our democracy for the next 250 years and beyond; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada proudly recognizes America’s Semiquincentennial and calls upon all Nevadans to celebrate this historic anniversary through reflection on the shared values that unite and strengthen our great state;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim July 4, 2026, as

 AMERICA’S SEMIQUINCENTENNIAL CELEBRATION IN NEVADA
