Achieving A Better Life Experience (Able) Savings Day in Nevada

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada is committed to expanding opportunities that promote independence, financial security, and an enhanced quality of life for individuals with disabilities; and

WHEREAS, the federal Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act established tax-advantaged savings and investment accounts that enable eligible individuals with disabilities to save and invest for their future while maintaining eligibility for important public benefits, including Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid; and

WHEREAS, ABLE accounts provide individuals and families with greater financial flexibility by allowing savings to be used for a broad range of qualified disability expenses, including housing, education, employment support,  transportation, healthcare, assistive technology, and other expenses that promote health, independence, and self-sufficiency; and  

WHEREAS, since its launch in 2015, the ABLE Nevada Program has empowered thousands of Nevadans to build financial stability and plan for the future, with more than 2,970 active accounts and over $27 million in assets under management; and  

WHEREAS, ABLE Nevada proudly participates in the ABLE Savings Plans Network (ASPN), a national collaboration of ABLE programs, administrators, and industry partners working together to increase awareness of the life-changing opportunities ABLE accounts provide; and 

WHEREAS, through its partnership with the National ABLE Alliance, a consortium of eighteen states, Nevada continues to offer a high-quality ABLE savings program that reflects our shared commitment to financial inclusion and long-term economic empowerment for individuals with disabilities; 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim August 14, 2026, as
