A Day in Honor of Lieutenant Todd Ellithorpe
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Todd Ellithorpe began his 26-year law enforcement career in March 1999, as a Trooper with the Nevada Highway Patrol; and
WHEREAS, in July 2009, Lieutenant Ellithorpe was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, assigned to Urban Traffic Operations within the Southern Command of the Nevada Highway Patrol; and
WHEREAS, in March 2010, Lieutenant Ellithorpe was decorated with the Nevada Department of Public Safety Life Saving Medal for his actions placing his safety at great risk in service to a member of the public; and
WHEREAS, in February 2012, Lieutenant Ellithorpe was assigned to the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Professional Responsibility, upholding the highest standards of professionalism; and
WHEREAS, in March 2015, Lieutenant Ellithorpe was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and transferred to the Department of Public Safety, Parole and Probation, General Supervision Unit; and
WHEREAS, in March 2016, Lieutenant Ellithorpe transferred to the Department of Public Safety Training Division, serving as the Division Commander; and
WHEREAS, in July 2017, Lieutenant Ellithorpe transferred back to the Nevada Highway Patrol, serving as a deputy commander in the Nevada Highway Patrol, Southern Command Urban Traffic Operations, Office of Risk Management, and Rural Traffic Operations; and
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Ellithorpe dedicated a majority of his career to enhancing the safety of Nevada's roadways through proactive enforcement and detection and apprehension of impaired drivers and on June 12, 2026, Lieutenant Todd Ellithorpe will officially retire with 26 years of dedicated and professional service in law enforcement, concluding his distinguished career as a Lieutenant with the Nevada Highway Patrol; and
WHEREAS, on behalf of all Nevadans, we extend to Lieutenant Todd Ellithorpe our sincere thanks and gratitude for his 27 years of professional excellence and loyal service to the State of Nevada;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim June 12, 2026, as a day in honor of
