Amperesand plans more than 1,200 high-skill Nevada jobs and $65 million in advanced manufacturing investment

RENO, Nev. – Today, Governor Joe Lombardo joined Amperesand leaders and community partners in Reno to celebrate the opening of the company’s new advanced manufacturing facility, marking a significant investment in Nevada’s growing technology and manufacturing sectors.

Amperesand plans to create more than 1,200 high-skill Nevada jobs by 2028 as the company expands its production footprint. The company has committed more than $65 million toward advanced manufacturing in Nevada, over $15 million for its current production facility and more than $50 million planned for future expansion.

“Nevada is building an economy where innovative companies can invest, manufacture, and create high-paying jobs right here in our state,” said Governor Joe Lombardo. “Amperesand’s decision to grow in Nevada means more than 1,200 planned jobs, tens of millions of dollars in investment, and critical grid technology being built here instead of overseas. My administration will continue working to make Nevada a destination for advanced manufacturing and the industries that will drive our economy forward.”

Amperesand manufactures Medium Voltage Solid State Transformers, compact, software-defined technology designed to efficiently connect large power consumers to the electrical grid. The technology replaces rows of traditional electrical equipment with 10x faster time to power, and 50% smaller footprint while ensuring critical loads inter-operate with the grid for maximum stability and capacity utilization. The company’s technology uses zero water aligning with Nevada’s efforts to accommodate economic growth while protecting water resources and preventing additional costs from being shifted to residential ratepayers.

“I’ve been working in Nevada for a decade and witnessed the transformation of the high-tech sector and skilled workforce in Reno. We are proud to build the world's most advanced and scalable medium voltage solid state transformer product family in Nevada,” said Brian Dow CEO of Amperesand.  “We opened this site on January 1st this year and already launched our first production line and full-scale testing capability of our Generation 3 system in record speed compared to competitors. Amperesand is already initiating our next growth step of capacity in Reno to over 20 Gigawatt per year to support demand from multiple Fortune 500 companies for sustainable and fastest time to power AI compute build-out."

Amperesand cited Nevada’s business climate, workforce, economic incentives, and support from state and local government among the factors behind its decision to locate manufacturing operations in Nevada. The company also pointed to the state’s existing advanced manufacturing base and workforce pipelines through the University of Nevada, Reno, and Truckee Meadows Community College.

Founded in 2023 following nearly a decade of research and development, Amperesand has more than 180 team members, a 10x increase since 2025 across Reno, San Francisco, and Singapore. The company's first commercial deliveries begin in 2026.
